Published Dec 04, 2008

The Hill County Cell Block Museum served as the county jail until 1983. The building that was constructed in 1893 is on the National Register of Historic Places, and was awarded a Texas Historical Marker in 1981.

Exhibits inside the current-day museum include a tribute to Hill County native Willie Nelson as well as a Native American artifact room, vintage Texas clothing and an actual cellblock that was used to house prisoners.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays from April through October.
