They Got Bonnie and Clyde
Published Dec 04, 2008

Stephen F. Austin and the Texas Rangers have a common bond.

It was Austin who established the law enforcement agency in 1823, and today the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco showcases equipment and firearms the Rangers have used over the years, and some of the famous cases they have investigated. It also features a memorial to the 31 Rangers who gave their lives or served the agency with great distinction.

In the past, the famed lawmen have acted as riot police, protected the Texas governor and tracked down fugitives that included Bonnie and Clyde. The Rangers are based in Austin and fulfill the role of the Texas State Bureau of Investigation. Go to www.texasranger.org for more on the museum.
