Freestone County Has Home of Distinction
Published Dec 04, 2008

A pre-Civil War home built by W.L. Moody for his bride, Elizabeth Bradley, still stands in Freestone County.

The Fairfield History Club now maintains the historic Moody-Bradley House. Its spacious grounds provide the site for the Freestone County Fair and Rodeo that is held each year.

W.L. Moody founded the Moody Foundation that helped African-Americans once they were freed following the Civil War. Civil War veterans held reunions on his property from 1890-1933. Other historic sites still standing in Fairfield include The Dentage, The Manahan Home and The Fischer House.
